A passionate and experienced offshore yacht racer, Ed competed in his 9th Rolex Fastnet Race in July 2023, navigating Eve, a Swan 65 and winning the RORC Bowl. In 2024 he competed in the MRolex Middle Sea Race and the Swan Cup in Porto Cervo as tactician and navigator.
He has served as volunteer RNLI crew on the Thames since 2002.
He has raced a wide range of yachts inshore and offshore as skipper, tactician and navigator in many different classes, from small sports and keel boats to larger yachts in the UK, Caribbean and Mediterranean.
He is an RYA Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat skipper.
Ed was the founder of the Night Owl racing syndicate, and was 12th to the Rock in the 2015 Rolex Fastnet Race, 10th in IRC2 in the 2011 Fastnet, and overall winner of the JOG Offshore Series in 2009, with line honours wins in many Cross Channel Races, including twice in races to Guernsey.
He competed for the UK team at the Gay Games in Paris in 2018 in the J80 Class.
